An important confirmation of common sense comes out of the University of Texas today, linking a high sugar diet with an increase risk of breast cancer and lung metastases.
Previous population studies have shown a correlation with a high sugar diet (think ‘typical western diet”) and breast cancer. Now scientists have worked out the link by demonstrating how sugar effects an enzymatic signaling pathway known as 12-lipoxygenase. This pathway promotes inflammation and makes it easier for the cancer cells to develop and later nest (metastasize) in areas beyond the original tumour site.
Nourishment through a wholesome low processed and low inflammation diet should be an essential part of any cancer treatment management plan.
